SUMMARY:Foraging Adventure and Guided Nature Hike
DESCRIPTION:Foraging is the practice of searching for wild edible food resources. On this tour we’ll find and identify a minimum of 10 types of plants that can commonly be foraged in the Keweenaw area.  \nParticipants will: \n\nlearn about foraging ethics and safety \nlearn how to accurately recognize what they are foraging for\nforage their own plants to take home to make their own herbal tea\nuse the art of sketching to get to know the plants they forage \n\nAll participants will receive a takeaway guidebook with plant identification and details from the class to use on their own future foraging adventures. \nMonday\, July 17th\, 2023 | Noon – 3pm\nWeather Permitting – will be canceled for rain.  \nRain date: Friday\, July 21st | Noon – 3pm \nFor learners ages 9+\, maximum 10 students. \nThis event takes place in Jacobsville at White Sky Woods Homestead. Parents are welcome to drop off students or stay and join as observers.  \nThe walk is trail-based and will be approximately 0.5 to 1.5 miles\, depending on where nature provides what we are looking for. The trail is clear but there is uneven terrain and slight inclines/declines on the trail. Dress appropriately for the weather\, sturdy shoes are required (no flip-flops).
