CLK Students

Kaleidoscope’s Virtual Electives include 14 virtual lessons each semester.

Students who participate in Kaleidoscope through the CLK School District’s Virtual Programs are required to take these electives.

Enrollment through our partnership with the CLK School District has closed for the 2024-25 school year. Sign up for the 2025-26 waiting list here.

Kaleidoscope requests a membership fee of $25 per student per year.

This fee helps to offset administrative costs and serves as a membership fee for Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope Members are able to attend clubs for free and receive free or reduced admission to other Kaleidoscope events. This fee is not required for all students. We understand that it is not financially feasible for all families. Waivers are available to anyone who requests them.

Each Virtual Elective includes one Optional Learning Experience (OLE):

Solo - Optional Learning Experiences are student-led and are ideal for students who want to take lessons or classes in the community or expand on their Virtual Elective in their own homes. Students and families plan these OLEs themselves, and Kaleidoscope provides funding, resources, and support.

Kaleidoscope - L’Anse Optional Learning Experience classes meet once a week at 830 Main Street in L’Anse and include hands-on activities led by an instructor in a small group setting.

Kaleidoscope - Hancock Optional Learning Experience classes meet once a week at 417 Quincy Street in Hancock, on the 4th floor of Hirvonen Hall, and include hands-on activities led by an instructor in a small group setting.

What can I expect in a Kaleidoscope Virtual Elective?

Our Virtual Electives are meant to provide a framework for activities that you might expand on at home. They include resource ideas and regular instructor/student communication through the virtual learning management platform Seesaw. They DO NOT include in-person or virtual face-to-face instruction. Students log into Seesaw each week and complete an activity, usually using a virtual resource. Instructors communicate with students about their completed activities.

Once the school year begins you will have access to the following:

  • Syllabus
This includes a class description, objectives, a general learning plan, and an assessment plan.
  • Virtual Elective PDF Workbook
This includes a printable version of lessons and assignments for the semester. This is an optional resource for families who prefer to limit their screen time. There will still be some content that will need to be accessed online.
  • Seesaw Account
Kaleidoscope will provide each student with a Seesaw account, which will give them access to the virtual content for their class.
  • Technical Support
Kaleidoscope staff is available via phone or email to help you through any technical issues that come up.
  • Resource Support
Kaleidoscope staff is available via phone or email to help you build resources to use at home and expand on the virtual content to create more in-depth at-home studies.
  • Kaleidoscope Newsletter and Events
Kaleidoscope members receive a monthly newsletter as well as priority access to any community events offered through Kaleidoscope.
