Join us for our fifth annual Battle of the Books.
Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd through 12th grades. Students read books and come together, in teams of 3-4, to test their knowledge of the books they have read in a friendly competition we call Battle Day. All questions are in the format of "In what book...." with the answer always being the name of the book. Bonus points are awarded for the author name.
Students may form their own teams and request their teammates when they register, or they may request to be placed on a team.
Levels of competition are 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade, and 9-12th. Students may register with the level that most closely matches their reading ability.
Book lists are the same for all teams within the same grade level. There are 12 books per list. Teammates can divy them up however they choose, and can rotate books amongst themselves so that more than one person has read each book. Lists are released when books are distributed. This year we will once again have all new titles for all grade levels.
This is a FREE program! All participants receive their books, a t-shirt, and a participation prize. First and second place teams in each level receive additional prizes.
By popular request, we are changing the timeline so that kids have more time to read their books. In order to do this, the registration deadline will be about a month earlier than in the past. Please register ASAP! Important dates are listed below.
Available at both Kaleidoscope L'Anse and Hancock locations. Times TBA.
at the L'Anse Township Park. Schedule will be released after the close of registration.
