Painting at the Magic Kiln

Join us one Tuesday a month at the Magic Kiln to paint a pottery project! For our first pottery painting of 2026, kids painted a troll. March features these adorable bunnies. The cost is only $5 for community members, and is free for Kaleidoscope members. You might be wondering what exactly is the Magic Kiln and where did it come from. Find out more about the studio and the person behind it below!

Catherine “Cat” Hiltunen opened the Magic Kiln in December of 2012. After painting at a few pottery studios, she decided it was so much fun that she wanted to open one of her own! When asked what is her favorite part of owning the Magic Kiln, she said “It’s nice to meet all the creative people that come in to paint, and I love opening the kiln to see how the colors have brightened and transformed each piece into a vibrant work of art.” She enjoys painting her own items from time to time, and enjoys many other kinds of art–which she also teaches across the street at Kaleidoscope Hancock in her art classes there. Aside from art, a favorite pastime of hers is building jigsaw puzzles.

Cat enjoys running a small business in a small town, and has become a part of the community by hosting family events, birthday parties, school, and church groups. To book your own group event, visit the Magic Kiln website.  And if you have a homeschooled or preschool child, bring them over to join Kaleidoscope at our next monthly Magic Kiln painting party on March 17th, at 2:00 pm. See you there!
